The show was a month ago tonight, but I finally got this thing posted! It ventures into tl;dr territory, is a bit image heavy and I make way too many random references. I linked video/photo to all of them to help those out that may have no idea what I'm talking about, lol.

And if you manage to make it through the whole thing there's some downloadable audio/visual fun that you may enjoy. ;)

To get to Mystic Lake Casino I decided to use the free shuttle buses they offer. There’s a stop not five minutes from my house so very convenient. I was hoping I wouldn’t be the only one on the bus going to Glam Nation, but it was clear almost immediately that would not be the case. The bus driver “warned” everyone about the show tonight in which everyone responded by groaning and providing their personal commentary on the matter. I just bit my tongue and didn’t say anything - no reason to waste my energy on people that decided to judge and form an opinion on a person’s entire character over one little tv performance.

Although I did get a kick out of this one lady that kept referring to him as Allen Lambert. lulz

The bus dropped off around 6:30, so by the time I found will call I had about 20 minutes before doors opened. Sense I had nothing better to do I stood in line and people watched. If you like people watching, an Adam Lambert show provides quality material. The demographic was extremely diverse which I find completely awesome. Everything from the glittery grown ups to groups of tween girls in their matching puffy paint t-shirts to the fabulously glammed up boys.

Adam really brings all sorts of people from all walks of life together. Diverse City as tobyMac would say. Or rather...One Nation Under Glam? With rhinestones and glitter for all? My favorite was a young boy maybe 9 or 10 years old in a full out Adam inspired outfit. Although to me personally it was a bit more of a Ryan Ross look than anything else, but you gotta applaud such an effort in dressing up. There was also a guy nearly old enough to be my dad in some extreme eyeliner and wore a British flag on his back in a cape-like fashion. And the hardcore stans are probably familiar with the Glambert that has Adam’s face tattooed on her shoulder. Spotted her at the end when everyone was filing out of the venue. Yeah...

Doors open and the crowd rushes in and most go straight for the merch area. I stood well behind the throng of people surrounding that area just to look because I had no intention on spending 50 bucks on a t-shirt I’d never wear. I was back there getting out some money to buy water at the concession’s stand when someone brushed past me on the way out back out of the theater. I looked up just in time to see some familiar curly hair in front of my face and realized “Oh snap it’s Neil freakin’ Lambert!!” He was moving pretty quickly (knowing Neil it was probably in a “get me away from here before the crazies notice me and attack” type fashion) so unfortunately I didn’t get to say hi or anything. I couldn’t help but laugh at the randomness of it all, as when I first found out Adam’s brother was going to be on the tour I came to the conclusion that if I could meet just one person it would be him. Because he's awesome and I can definitely appreciate his high levels of snarkiness.

Went in to find my seat and flailed internally when I realized they were playing Quietdrive over the speakers! Local bands FTW! Anyway, I was in the second section, way to the far left. I think that made me 16 or 17 rows back? With the aisle in front more like 20 rows I suppose. Luckily it was stadium style seating so no heads in front of me blocking my view. Waiting for the show to start a Glambert was passing out blue glowsticks along with a note instructing us to all hold up the sticks during the second verse of Whataya Want From Me. I figured “why not?” and took one when she offered.

Yay, the show finally begins! Allison Iraheta up first. It’s rare for me to find female singers I really like, but I absolutely adore her. I’m pretty sure I made sounds only dolphins could hear when I read the news on Twitter that she would also be on the tour. Her voice is so amazing it’s a shame she’s not more popular. She sings better than most girls on Top 40 radio right now, that’s for sure.

I had the intention of recording Allison’s entire set. About a minute into “Holiday” I was being told by security no video allowed. Kinda funny that rule, considering we ended up with several complete video sets for Adam’s performance, but okay whatever you say dude. I guess I was kind of obvious at this point when no one could be bothered to stand up and there were empty seats next to me. I ended up sitting down and stealth ninja’d out videos for “Don’t Waste The Pretty” (featuring Orianthi on guitar) and her cover of “Heartbreaker” by resting the camera on the balcony ledge in front of me. Allison’s set was way too short. We were just staring to rock out when she was skipping back off the stage. Nooo, Alli come back!

Orianthi’s set, on the other hand, seemed way too long. She’s a great guitarist and everything, I was just completely zoning out about half way though. There were some dude’s rave dancing with their glowsticks during “According To You” which was amusing. That song totally screams raver ya know? lol

Left before Orianthi was done to wait in the bathroom line. For some reason Mystic Lake decided having only three stalls in the bathrooms closest to the showroom would be sufficient enough? Luckily I had some time to kill so I didn’t mind waiting in line. Judging from the conversation a lot of the concert goers were bored by Ori. Many noticed entire rows of people sitting and texting instead of watching. I know I was guilty of doing that as well.

There was a boy in line I chatted with briefly that I just wanted to squish into my pocket and carry around with me forever and ever. So adorably presh! He was a reasonable facsimile of AOL Sessions Kris Allen, just with added eyeliner & glitter. And height. I later noticed him down in the front couple rows (in fact from my vantage it appeared a good percentage of the front was filled with pretty glammed up boys) so I’m sure Adam appreciated the view, lol!

The main event announced its start by projecting that Frontier Magazine cover photo (the one with the feathered collar that makes Adam look like a ruffed grouse in iridescent nicobar pigeon colors) and blasted the Brad Walsh remix of “For Your Entertainment.” A little disappointed that it meant no live performance of the song. Definitely has some of my favorite choreography between the robot moves at the beginning and that Paso Doble matador thing during the bridge.

Any sliver of disappointment quickly faded when Adam made his appearance on top of the staircase in a crazy over the top fringed purple coat, top hat with fishnet and feathers and a big sparkly scarlet letter A, leather pants with tassel things and purple snake skin patches, and BARE FEETS! Elaborate over the top clothes, and no shoes. What, did you exhaust so much of the budget on the shiny lasers the shoe budget suffered as a result? Lol yup, that’s definitely what happened.

A sane person would probably describe the outfit as a cross between the mad hatter and Willy Wonka. My brain came to the conclusion that he looked like a giant purple crow. Especially when clapping over his head - looked like he was flapping his fringy feathery wings and preparing for take off. This thought process is what eventually produced that Adam!Pteri Neopet creation. I should draw the rest of the band now. Monte is so a Yurble, no way around it. Tommy can be a Xweetok, or maybe a Cybunny? Cam, I dunno...maybe a Usul or something. Longineu can be whatever looks the coolest with dreadlocks. Maybe a Meerca to keep the theme of rodenty looking creatures for the band.

In our next edition we shall explore what Pokemon should be assigned to each band member. =P

Act One (mystery and intrigue) began with a Voodoo/Down The Rabbit Hole/Ring Of Fire medley of sorts. “Voodoo” has some fun choreography where Adam puts a spell on his dancers/swamp creatures. My favorite was when Taylor turns into a zombie marionette of some sort. Adam pulls his arm back, lets go, and the arm goes swinging like a pendulum. Very amusing and I don’t know how Taylor can keep a straight face because I would be cracking up. “Down The Rabbit Hole” also has a fun move that combines a disco arm motion with some lasso throwing action. Disco Rodeo in dance step form!

The crazy jacket and top hat came off for “Ring Of Fire.” He stood at the top of the steps where behind him there was a projection of, yep you guessed it, a ring of fire. Clever, I know. “Fever” was the final song for act one, and chock full of literal dance moves. Actually a good chunk of the choreography for the entire show is literal interpretation of the lyrics. The disco rodeo move mentioned previously comes to mind. Totally dance moves little kids would come up with but I love it. Fever of course equals fanning your hand in front of your face. And once when he sang the word “knows” he touched his finger to his nose. lol, really Adam?

The interlude during the first costume change was pretty sweet. I’m also a sucker from drums so that may sway my opinion by a lot. It was a tribal drum piece complete with dancers doing their tribal dancer thing. And it wasn’t just LP playing – Tommy was rocking out on the shaker (Kinda made me giggle watching him. Woo you go Tommy! Work that shaker! lol) and Monte had a snare or something. Not entirely sure but he was beating on something with a pair of drum sticks.

Act Two (heartbreak and growth) opened with “Sleepwalker” and another fabulous coat. Gorgeous floor length with cool pattern detailing and I want one for myself It was made from a light weight material which made it flutter and flair out when Adam turned and moved. The shirt and pants were the same as the first act and yep, still barefoot. Highlight for “Whataya Want From Me” was during the second verse where I really got to see how many people had the blue glowsticks. Gorgeous visual scanning over the crowd to see all the swaying blue lights.

“Soaked” is a favorite vocally of mine. An almost classical sound with beautiful operatic vocals. Live with just the piano accompaniment it’s amazing. Slightly disappointed they cut the big instrumental break in the middle, but more disappointed in the fact the crowd chose this song to scream during every quiet moment possible. Way to ruin it people! I love those beautiful a capella moments where there’s a hush over the crowd and it’s so quiet you could hear a pin drop. I also have developed a new found appreciation of “Aftermath” after hearing it live. The live version was completely stripped back to just Monte on acoustic guitar. Really makes you focus on how wonderful the lyrics are.

Interlude for costume change number two was also really awesome. Really moody psychedelic instrumental from the band (I’m not that familiar with her music but apparently it’s a Madonna song?) complete with laser show! I’ve always loved lasers, so learning that Adam shared the same fondness pleased me greatly. I actually caught myself looking up and watching the lasers up at the ceiling over whatever was happening on the stage. It was hard to determine from how far away I was, but there also appeared to be some stage fog situation going on around the lasers to recreate that amazing effect during the WWFM performance on AI. It was just a much more subtle thing this time around. No creating and controlling one’s own personal weather system here.

Act Three (joy and celebration) opened with “Sure Fire Winners.” Costume was a complete change this time – sparkling blue and black pants, a vest with a blue “A” on the back, and some cool looking boots. During “Strut” and “Music Again” there’s also a really awesome leather jacket with stripes and studs all over. Strut wins for favorite choreography thanks to the addition of a cane. To me it was the most “Broadway” of all the performances with a sort of vaudeville quality overall. For some reason it made me think of Shirley Temple? There were some very comedic moments and it had me giggling over the silly faces he made. I haven’t laughed that much watching a performer onstage since the crazy spaz that is Nate Cole from Plus One. The silliness really took over during Music Again. Lots of crazy faces and at one point he was yelling “Cowbell!! More cowbell!!!” and giggly looked back at Longineu as he banged on some cowbells.

And he did this move with the microphone stand I can only describe as Mick Jagger by way of Howlin' Pelle Almqvist.

“Broken Open” was my favorite visually. I find the song completely relaxing (on my “sleepy time” playlist fo sho), so that fact coupled with the Windows Media Player style visualization and lasers and I was pretty much locked in a trance for the duration of the song. The placement of this song in the setlist is a little weird though, right smack in the middle of all the dance songs. Musically it would fit better somewhere in act two where all the mellower songs are, after Soaked maybe, but I guess with whatever storyline is rolling through Adam’s head it makes sense here?

I’m pretty much indifferent to the recorded version of “If I Had You.” Live it’s a whole different ball game. Adam is so bouncy and smiley and happy and it’s completely infectious. The video I took for this song is probably my favorite. As with all the video I took I just held the camera at about chest level because a) the guards don’t realize you’re filming a b) I’d much rather watch what’s happening on the stage with my of eyes instead of through the camera screen. That being said, all of the videos have some questionable framing issues and could possibly make one seasick from all the motion. This one was craziest of them all and I kinda love it that way. There’s a lot of jumping around onstage and the video portrays that very well.

At the start of If I Had You Adam introduced the band. It was only at this point that I noticed Longineu was in pigtails. This says a lot considering how much focus I normally put on the drummer. After being introduced Tommy rubbed his head up on Adam’s shoulder in a very cat like movement. “Ooh, he’s a kitty cat!” And then Adam headbanged to a guitar solo from Monte. Half way through the song Adam stopped to introduce the dancers. You can tell Sasha is a favorite amongst the fans. Although Taylor got a healthy amount of screams as well. When introducing Brooke he wasn’t paying attention to how close she was, went to point over at her and ended up poking her in the face. After settling down in her position on the stairs Tommy went over to give her a quick sidehug which was really cute.

For an encore we were given upbeat acoustic version of “Mad World.” Even though it was considered the big moment on Idol with Simon’s standing ovation I never was a huge fan of the song. I do enjoy this sped up version with the conga drums; you can really groove to it. Adam blew the audience a kiss and walked off stage. Tommy walked the entire length of the stage shaking/slapping hands before leaving and Longineu tossed out his drum sticks. I sat back and relaxing until the crowd thinned out, and then had the task of finding a place to wait for my dad who was giving me a ride back home. He lives only a couple miles from Mystic Lake, goes to work around the time the concert finished, and work happens to be right around where I live. Rather handy, huh? I wandered toward the hotel side and came across a Native American display complete with stuffed and mounted buffalo. I’m surprised my the amount of Lakota I’ve picked up over the years, because I was able to understand a lot of the language on the display.

Finally got home after midnight and it was well after three am before I found myself in bed. No sleep for me! So worth it though. So much so I found myself only a few days later buying a ticket to the Glam Nation show in Des Moines coming up in September. The venue is a GA outdoor amphitheater on the riverfront which was a major deciding factor on the road trip. I’m really finicky about venues I’ll go to, whether it be venue size (under 1500 capacity is my normal limit) or even architectural features. Giant pillar right smack in the middle of the floor, blocking half the view of the stage? Eh, yeah...no thank you. I’ve skipped out on shows from bands that I find amazing live due to my dislike of the venue. Mystic Lake is definitely a venue I have no desire in going to again. Mostly because the tickets are way more expensive there than any other venue. Tickets were almost twice the price at Mystic compared to most other shows of the same tour. I skipped out on a David Cook show there last year because of this. And the whole assigned seats thing kinda cramps my style. I love those shows where it feels like there’s no real barrier between you on the artist on stage, and having rows of seats and a low balcony wall in front of you blocks that effect just a smidge.

Plus I hear Des Moines has a pretty nifty zoo that I wanna check out. ;)

I had saved all the HD videos from the show and created multiple angle videos to burn onto DVD. I think the quality is pretty good for what's essentially a bootleg (all the images scattered throughout this recap are screencaps) so I decided to upload the videos to share with all you lovelies. :)

Downloads available in wmv format on Mediafire. Most of the footage is from Youtube users Methosgirl and MinionoftheDarkLord, with additonal footage from ImAliveUSA, lmkb61, skljroller, and UKGlamb.

This was so much fun to read! I about died laughing at your reference to Nate Cole. Jesus, that boy was out of his MIND. I always loved going to Plus One shows in the later days of their short existence, when they wrote most of the music and they felt more free and happy on stage.

Glad you had such a good time bb. My show was general admission, so we had very different experiences.

lol, for some reason almost a year ago Adam somehow started reminding me of Nate and it's been in my head ever since. I LOVED the Plus One shows later in their career - I'd leave one thinking "No way can they get any better than this" only to have the next show I see be even more crazy epic. Ugh, why is there next to no concert footage in existence?

I've always felt a slight disconnect at shows with assigned seating, so I'm definitely looking forward to experiencing Glam Nation in general admission form come September. :)

Yeah the seats were awesome! The venue itself is only 130 feet from stage to the very last row so it's one of those true "no bad seats in the house" type venues. :)

Все отлично сделано!

Looking good does more than create impressions on others at work or socially, it shows that we value ourselves when we make the best of our looks. The next step is to do price comparisons and see who offers high quality products at prices you find suitable.. Perhaps it is time to expand your wardrobe and not wear the same item of clothing over and over again. They may indeed be tripping, and may be the one who requires a makeover. Clothing and accessories do not have to be expensive. If you are not properly dressed your employers may prefer selecting someone else who has spent more time on their attire and personal appearance. You can either be offended or consider if the comment has credibility. No matter what age we are, we could all use a change in clothing and style from time to time. As we grow up and get into our busy working lives, the fun should not stop, nor should your dedication to looking good. Having the right clothing and accessories for all occasions makes life easier. After all, we deserve to take pride in our appearance and improve the environment for others too. Believe it or not, we self-project a great deal through the way we dress, often subconsciously. It is possible to appear impeccably attired in simple affordable clothing.

Remember being young, fun and carefree? In our younger days the focus centres more on having fun for the weekend rather than on dress. Then there are those who do not take care and manage to look sloppily attired in the most expensive clothing. Outrageous you may say? While it is not commonly openly admitted, it is a fact that personal grooming, clothing and our style of dress communicate a great deal about who we are. Buying clothing and accessories that complement your looks is significant to your own brand of marketing either in personal or business relationships. It follows then that making an effort to find, high quality, durable clothing and accessories pays off. It could be a relevant factor as to whether you get a work opportunity, promotion or a raise. Being able to shop from the comfort of your own home in your comfortably styled pyjamas beats an hours drive, finding parking, and wading through busy stores. Everyone has their own sense of style, and it is important to respect each others different looks and beliefs. So next time a friend gives you advice think it over. Whatever effort you expend on the task of acquiring clothing and accessories to suit your personal style, it will not be wasted. As we go through life our sense of style changes according to our personal identity.

So your best friend comes over and remarks that you could use some more style. It is crucial to wear clothes that suit you and fit well and others may have a better eye than you for this. You can start your research by looking at websites online that offer clothing that appeals to you. Shopping online is a useful way to find great deals on high quality clothing and accessories and can save you a lot of time. Knowing where to find the best products, and the ones that fit your personal sense of style can take some time and effort. Taking feedback from others whom you know to have good taste is very helpful. Looking professional in the business world is essential. One does not have to "dress to the nines" to look great.Personal grooming and the way we dress makes an important first impression. Style and looking good does not have a price tag to it.
