He had been closed up into the holding area while the girls were kept on the exhibit side. It makes me curious to know if maybe being closed off into a smaller space somehow cause the wolf to take advantage of a weak spot in the fence that he normally wouldn't have bothered poking around at? It'll be interesting to see what conclusions they come up with after their full investigation.
